Portland… as a tourist
Portland (Oregon) is a lovely place to visit in the summer. Apparently the summer only lasts four months, with the remaining eight being described as “rainy”. Can’t wait. In the meantime, I’ve compiled a short list of things to do in Portland… accompanied by some photos.
- Powells bookshop – it fills an entire city block. Well worth an afternoon or more
- Pioneer Place
- Rose test garden
- Japanese garden
- Five beautiful bridges
- Farmers’ market
- Saturday market
- Deschutes brewery
Slightly further outside Portland, there is Mt Hood, the Columbia river gorge, the Multnomah Falls, and a scenic drive route called the Infinity Loop. More on these in later posts…
